Lookie Look!
It's official -- I have a website! It's pretty and red and it made me realize I really, really need to get some authors photos taken...but it's there! Woot woot!
I have a question now though. On my website, there really is nothing that isn't on my blog. In fact, there is MORE stuff on my blog. More in-depth explanations of stories, more updates, not to mention the standard pictures, bio, and contact info. Here's the question: do you think it is sufficient for a writer to just have a blog? Or do you think a website is a necessity in the writing world too?
I shall leave you with that question while I go find out why Pippa is being quiet. Quiet puppies = destroyed trash cans and/or shoes and/or how-on-earth-did-you-reach-THAT?! Toodles.

Love the website! I think it's a good thing to have both; I might start one when I begin to send queries and whatnot.
I'll go check it out. As for your question, I think it's important to have both. People who just want quick info on you and your books = website. People who want to know your day-to-day life, your writing process, pretty much everything about you = blog.
So both are needed, I think.
Love it! Love the red! And I think both, if you want to come off as serious in the biz as well as someone who's willing to put in some leg work for your own publicity. I think it sends a small message, yeah? Maybe? I hope. :P
Cool! Man, I want one of those.
So did you design in yourself, or have someone do it for you? It's adorable!
You will be all ready for your best seller days. Believe it and it will happen.
I designed a website on Homestead a while back - very user friendly. I'll have to give it a re-visit...
Renee -- I used Homestead. They provide domain support as well as templates, which is very nice, because when it comes to all that HTML stuffs I know nothing. So far, they're a really excellent host to use.
Love it! It's so red and pretty. I think there are benefits to having a website, but I do think you can organize a blog so it has the same feel of a website.
Check out www.Jacksonpearce.com -- It's her blog/website and I think it works really well! She added a section in the sidebar that says "navigate me" and linked all her bio, books, contact info, etc. that way.
Kat -- After I published this post, I thought about Jackson's blog/site, and you're right -- it does work very well for her. Proof that it can go both ways!
Hope you found the pup -- not in the destruction mode.
I have both the blog and the website. I designed them to look different. Yes, there's a lot of the same information, but on a website if you want your book info to stay only one click away, it's easy to do. Blogs require a lot more scrolling. I think the blogs are more personal, probably because we spend so much time updating them. The websites scream for more permanence, so to me they accomplish different things.
Me likey...
