How Writing Feels

When you tell a non-bookish person about a plot you've been working on for months and they spend half an hour explaining all the other directions your story should go instead because they are "your readership" and they know best.

    They may be your readers, but you're the one writing the story. And it is your story, so you get to decide which direction to go in.
